MANILA -- Two teen singers from Bohol joined the blind auditions of the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines," which aired on Sunday.

Joining singing contests is nothing new for sisters Liezel and Mecerdita Quiachon, who have won several awards for talent. Both of them said they tried out for "The Voice" in order to help their family.

First to show off her talent was Mercerdita, who sang Beyonce's "Listen." turned for her just before her song ended.

"From start to certain points, kinulang sa akin 'yung emosyon na kinailangan ng kanta," Bamboo told her.

Lea Salonga admitted that she was expecting more from Mecerdita, especially since she sang popular singing contest piece.

"Tatlong singer ang peg ko sa kantang 'yan. Una siyempre, 'yung orihinal, si Beyonce. Pangalawa, si Charice, nung kinanta niya ito sa 'Glee.' Pangatlo, Darren Espanto. What they all have kasi in common is what Coach Bamboo was talking about, 'yung emosyon, na 'Pakinggan mo ako!', na mayroon akong kailangang sabihin," she added.

"Si Coach Apl, naniniwala ako na mamo-motivate ka niya, maga-guide ka niya doon sa hinahanap namin kung bakit hindi kami napa-ikot ngayong gabi. So good luck, and congratulation," Sarah Geronimo said.

"They're right, there's some couple of things we need to fix, but I enjoyed your tapang, your laban, so welcome to Team Apl," said.

"Happy po talaga, hindi ko po inaasahan na magtu-turn po siya sa akin," Mecerdita said.

Two in a row?

Her younger sister, Liezel came in next to try her luck. She sang Aerosmith's "I Don't Want to Miss a Thing."

Unfortunately, she failed to make any of the coaches turn.

"You hit all the high notes. I needed to hear the 'cry' of the song, like really missing somebody," explained.

"It's not just hitting the notes eh. It's about, sort of, the emotional connection sa pagkanta mo. Para kang nag-aacting kapag kumakanta ka rin eh, dina-dramatize mo 'yung delivery mo. Napakaimportante 'yun," Bamboo told Liezel.

Salonga agreed, adding that although Liezel was able to hit the high notes, she was inconsistent at times.

"You have the high notes, pero inconsistent. Siguro, konti pang paghasa, para lahat ng matataas na nota, na ibirit mo, parang madali lang, para sa'yo," she added.

When asked by Geronimo, Liezel said her sister is one of her musical influences, prompting the coaches to call her sister back on stage.

The Quiachon sisters then sang a duet, much to the delight of the coaches.
