MANILA — (UPDATED) Cinema One Original Festival honored on Friday filmmakers and actors participating in the 15th edition of the annual films showcase.

“Metamorphosis,” a film about intersex people, led the list of winners with trophies for Best Actor for Gold Azeron, and Best Director for JE Tiglao.

 

“Metamorphosis,” which is said to be the first full-length Filipino film centering on an intersex individual, was nearly not exhibited after it was initially given an X-rating by the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board.

Its was eventually screened with an R-16 rating.

“Sila-Sila,” about gay men finding “love after love,” similarly got top honors with its Best Film win, and the Best Supporting Actor trophy for Topper Fabregas.

  • Best Screenplay – Daniel Saniana, Sila-Sila
  • Student Film Award – Kapasidad by Tyrone James Luanzon
  • Best Supporting Actress – Iana Bernardez, Metamorphosis
  • Best Supporting Actor – Topper Fabregas, Sila-Sila
  • Best Actress – Alessandra de Rossi, Lucid
  • Best Actor – Gold Azeron, Metamorphosis
  • Best Short Film – Sa Among Agwat by Don Senoc
  • Best Director – JE Tiglao, Metamorphosis
