MANILA - A teenage singer from Marikina City had coaches Lea Salonga and apl.de.ap fighting for her to be on their respective teams for the second season of ''The Voice of the Philippines.''
Samantha Felizco performed Christina Aguilera's "Hurt" for her blind audition, which aired on an episode of the singing competition Saturday.
Apl.de.ap described the song choice as "perfect" for the 19-year-old. He said: "Alam mo bagay sa iyo 'yung kanta, bagay sa iyo 'yung look mo, bagay sa iyo lahat, pero alam mo kung ano mas bagay sa iyo? Ako."
He added: "I don't have anyone like you on my team. So you will have my full attention."
To which Salonga replied: "You sure about that?"
"I liked how emotionally connected you were to the song. Sana pagbigyan mo ako ng pagkakataon para i-coach kita," the Broadway star told Felizco.
The teen, however, opted for apl.de.ap. She explained that she idolizes Fergie, a fellow member of the award-winning music group Black Eyed Peas. She also said that their music inspired her during her early years.
Felizco joins Bradley Holmes, Jannet "Singing Cop" Cadayona, and Mark Cando in Team Apl.
