MANILA -- Nino Alejandro, a singer-songwriter from the popular Alejandro clan, gets another shot at stardom as he clinches a spot in Lea Salonga's team on the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines".

Alejandro, who has been in the entertainment industry since 1995, has released three albums and two movie soundtracks.

He now spends his time as a father and as a member of his band.

He admitted that being part of a popular musical family has its pros and cons.

"Yung apelyido ko, may advantages pero may disadvantages din, because ang expectation ng tao, napakataas kaagad. Pressure sa akin 'yun to do my best," Alejandro said.

On the show's episode on Saturday, Alejandro wowed the coaches with his rendition of AC/DC's "Highway to Hell". His performance made all the coaches turn for him, with Lea Salonga turning her chair after just a few notes.

Salonga, who couldn't help but show how much she enjoyed Alejandro's performance, went over to hug him after his performance.

"Oh my God! Hang on a minute. Dude, it's been way too long. Okay, you know what, you got to introduce yourself to everybody," Salonga told Alejandro.

"That is the best I have ever heard you sing. It's like, 'I sing heavy metal, I sing rock, this is, this is me!'. I got excited," Salonga added.

"Eksakto ka, sa ginagawa mo, bagay na bagay talaga eh. I think you're awesome. I think you belong in Kamp Kawayan, man. It would be great to have you here. I could popularize some stuff from you, man," Bamboo told Alejandro.

"You know, if you come to my team, I'm going to take you to highway to victory to win this competition," said, trying to convince Alejandro to choose him.

"Ang radyo kasi ngayon, punong-puno ng pop music, dumidepende sa ganda ng beat, nawawala na 'yung galing ng artist. 'Yung passion ng artist itself, nawawala na, at iyon ang kailangan ng generation na ito, at ako ho, ang magpapakilala sa inyo sa kanila," Sarah Geronimo said.

Alejandro chose to be part of Salonga's team, becoming its sixth member.

"Unang-una, I just want to say thank you sa inyong lahat, pero I'm just happy to be back. Marami akong matututunan from each of you. Ang coach po na pipiliin ko po dahil sa tingin ko, ito po 'yung coach na mag-oopen sa akin, 'yung paningin ko, 'yung isip ko, 'yung musicality ko, to take it sa level na I always wanted it to go to, at 'yung coach, ay si Lea."

"You don't know how happy you just made me," Salonga told Alejandro.

Salonga now has six members on her team: Alejandro, singing chemist Philippe Go, Jose Manuel Cubil, Leah Patricio, Miro Valera, and Timothy Pavino.

Team Sarah has seven members: Carol Leus, Daniel Ombao, Demie Fresco, Jason James Dy, Kokoi Baldo, Monique Lualhati, and Vanessa Monot.

Kamp Kawayan also has seven members: Shaira Cervancia, Ramonne Rodriguez, Dang Del Rosario, Kai Honasan, Karlo Mojica, Rence Rapanot, and Tanya Diaz.

Meanwhile, Team Apl has four members: Bradley Holmes, Jannet Cadayona, Mark Cando, and Samantha Felizco.
