MANILA - Zanjoe Marudo is returning to primetime television on November 24, this time with a child actress as his "leading lady."
The 32-year-old actor and showbiz newcomer Jana Agoncillo, 5, will top-bill "Dream Dad," which is produced by the same team behind "Be Careful With My Heart" and "Pure Love."
Directed by Jeffrey Jeturian, "Dream Dad" centers on Baste (Marudo), a bachelor company president who is trying to move on from a heartbreak by focusing on his family.
He crosses paths with Baby (Agoncillo), a bright and inquisitive orphan girl who is looking for a family that will love and accept her. When they meet at her orphanage, Baby quickly takes a liking to her would-be father figure.
Joining Marudo and Agoncillo in "Dream Dad" are Maxene Magalona, Beauty Gonzales, Yen Santos, Ana Feleo, Katya Santos, Ketchup Eusebio, Ariel Ureta, and Gloria Diaz.
The series will mark the actor's return to ABS-CBN's Primetime Bida after "Annaliza," which concluded in March 2014. In the remake of the 1980 soap opera, Marudo played the adoptive father of the title character portrayed by child actress Andrea Brillantes.
Agoncillo, meanwhile, was last seen as the young Natalia in the ongoing primetime series "Ikaw Lamang." Before the Coco Martin-starrer, Agoncillo also appeared in ABS-CBN's "Honesto."
