MANILA — Actress-host Anne Curtis on Monday shared details about her pregnancy in her first interview since announcing the personal milestone.

Curtis, 34, is expecting her first child with husband, restaurateur and vlogger Erwan Heussaff. The couple shared the news on Sunday through a video showing Curtis’ baby bump.

Speaking with ABS-CBN News’ Mario Dumaual, Curtis confirmed that she is on her fifth month of pregnancy, and is expecting to give birth around March 2020.

Recalling how she found out she was going to be a first-time mom, Curtis said: “Just like every other woman, I think, ikaw muna, e. Gusto mo muna malaman on your own, and then iko-confirm mo with a doctor after.

“It was early on in the pregnancy na I could feel something different sa body ko. Ta’s parang, ‘Hindi ‘yan!’ And then, iyon na nga, when I felt na, ‘Parang iba talaga!’ Nag-test na ako.”

Heussaff, she said, is “very, very excited” to become a dad.

Noting she has gone past the phase of morning sickness, Curtis described her pregnancy so far as “smooth-sailing.”

Asked whether she has a preference for the baby’s gender, Curtis answered: “Alam mo, honestly, anything basta healthy. That’s all that matters to me. It’s a blessing. I just really pray na healthy and smooth the rest of my pregnancy.”

Curtis just recently wrapped filming on the Metro Manila Film Festival (MMFF) entry “The Mall the Merrier,” co-starring her close friend and “It’s Showtime” co-host Vice Ganda.

In the comedy film, Curtis had a number of physically demanding scenes, she said, but nothing that could risk harm to her pregnancy.

She was similarly cautious when she performed stunts during the October “Magpasikat” week of “It’s Showtime,” pointing out that her performance was relatively less daring than her previous ones.

“When you’re pregnant, you can still do yoga, you can do inversions, so I knew that I was safe. Buti na lang before getting pregnant, I’m a very fit person, so I know what my body and my baby can handle. It’s a fit baby!” she said.

With promotions for her MMFF offering underway, Curtis expects she can still actively participate in tours, including the annual float parade of the main entries.

She hasn’t yet scheduled a maternal leave from her projects, including her daily hosting duties on “It’s Showtime.”

“I think hangga’t kaya ko pa naman. I feel very strong naman. Hindi naman ako delicate or high-risk,” she said.

Referring to the prospect of shopping for items and furniture for her baby, Curtis added: “I’m excited but I have to control myself! I know there will come a time when I’ll have to stop working. That’s when I’ll probably do all that, ‘yung talagang makakapag-isip ako nang tama.”

Curtis shared the observation of many of her followers that her pregnancy suddenly showed, after months of it not being obvious, once she and Heussaff announced the development.

“The moment na mag-announce ako, lumabas na siya! For the longest time, para lang akong busog. Pero the moment I announced, parang sabi ni baby, ‘Okay!’” she said, beaming.
