MANILA - Even before landing a spot in Team Lea, "The Voice of the Philippines" artist Jem Cubil already had a following, thanks to his stint in another ABS-CBN-produced talent search in 2011.
Cubil, 21, was one of the 14 acts that made it to the grand finals of the second season of "Pilipinas Got Talent," which named singer Marcelito Pomoy as its winner.
As a teenager, Cubil already charmed in the local music scene in his native Cebu, armed with his guitar which he learned playing at a young age.
In the years following his "Pilipinas Got Talent" stint, Cubil made it a point to still perform for the supporters he had amassed during the competition, by uploading covers of popular songs on his YouTube channel.
Cubil is one of four artists in Lea Salonga's team in "The Voice of the Philippines," as of its November 9 episode. The opposing teams are also growing their members: Sarah Geronimo has six, Bamboo Manalac has five, while apl.de.ap has three.
Co-hosted by Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano with Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo as V-Reporters, "The Voice of the Philippines" airs 8:45 p.m. on Saturdays and 8:30 p.m. on Sundays.
