MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) – Actor Baron Geisler was released from jail on Saturday morning after his neighbor, Raymund dela Rosa, dropped the charges against him.

Police said dela Rosa and his wife went to the Quezon City Police Station 5 at around 10 a.m. to formally drop the charges of physical injuries, malicious mischief and child abuse against the actor.

Geisler spent at least 14 hours in jail after he allegedly slammed a chair into dela Rosa's sari-sari store and punched dela Rosa in front of his 3-year-old child, who was allegedly traumatized by the incident.

Geisler's brother, Donald or ‘Donnie’, said the actor has already reconciled with the dela Rosa family.

“The thing was a misunderstanding. So on our side and Ray’s side, they just want to settle it, apologize and everything, para finished na din,” he said.

He did not confirm, however, if Geisler was drunk when the incident occurred.

Donnie was shocked when he learned of the incident since he thought his brother was doing well after his stint in rehab.

He said aside from alcoholism, his brother was dealing with bipolarism, which causes severe depression and mood swings.

“He felt depressed about something and I think he missed his medication. We all know naman that he has been struggling with his career tapos ngayon nabibigyan siya ng break, sana hindi siya i-judge muna,” he said.

Donnie also appealed for the public's understanding since Geisler is still undergoing rehabilitation for his alcoholism.

Following his lawyer's orders, the family brought Geisler to a hospital for medical examination.

Geisler, meanwhile, asked media not to report the incident.

"Huwag niyo na ilabas ito if you still want me to live and have a good life. I really didn't do anything, nagkataon lang na I became a brat, nagalit ako,” the actor said. -- Reports from Dennis Datu, dzMM; Bettina Magsaysay and Pia Gutierrez, ABS-CBN News; ANC
