MANILA - A.K.A. Jam band member Monique Lualhati has her work cut out for her after she made it to the team of Sarah Geronimo on ''The Voice of the Philippines.''
Lualhati impressed Geronimo and Coach Apl.De.Ap performing ''When I Was Your Man'' during the Blind Auditions aired on Sunday.
''I just had to enjoy your whole performance. That's why I was late to turn. I wanted to here everything you have and napakagaling ng performance mo,'' said Coach Apl.
Despite drawing praises from Coach Apl, the 26-year-old singer chose Geronimo.
''Masayang-masaya ako na umikot ako para sa iyo dahil pareho ang genre natin. Marami akong naiisip na pagtatrabahuan natin,'' said her new coach.
Lualhati is a member of the band A.K.A. Jam which frequently performs with Gary Valenciano during his concerts.
She also worked with Geronimo as a back-up singer for the show ''Idol.''
Lualhati said her inspiration in joining ''The Voice'' is her sister, who was born with an eye problem.
''Eye transplant na lang ang way para gumaling siya,'' she said in an interview before her performance. ''Minsan naisip ko nang mag-give up pero every time nakikita kong nahihirapan ang sister ko, sabi ko, hindi puwede."
