MANILA – Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano cannot thank their supporters enough for making their latest movie, “Everyday I Love You,” another blockbuster hit.
On Saturday, Star Cinema announced that the film already breached the P100-million mark in ticket sales less than two weeks since it was released in theaters.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News, Gil admitted he didn’t expect their movie to be this successful because this is the first time that he and Soberano did a romantic-drama project.
“It feels amazing. We never really imagined that it will be successful nung ginagawa namin to be honest. First time namin mag-romantic-drama. Usually, romantic-comedy ang ginagawa namin. Pero sabi nila Tita Malou (Santos), ‘Do you want to make something different naman, 'yung more serious and more mature?’ Inisip namin baka masyadong mabigat para sa mga tao. Baka gusto nila light lang and medyo magaan. Pero okay naman. It looks okay. I’m just happy na maraming natuwa,” he said.
Soberano said it is overwhelming to hear positive feedback about the movie from those who saw it.
“Nagustuhan naman nila 'yung movie so okay na kami. At least naka P100 million siya before the movie ended so we are happy. Hindi talaga namin ine-expect. We just want to say thank you to all our supporters kasi sobrang sipag nila magpa-block screening,” she said.
Directed by Mae Cruz-Alviar, "Everyday I Love You" also stars Gerald Anderson. It is still screening in theaters nationwide.
