Angelo Castro Jr. back in 'The World Tonight'

MANILA, Philippines - The main man of "The World Tonight" is back.

Veteran broadcast journalist Angelo Castro Jr. returned to the ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) on Monday night after taking a break for two years due to illness.

Filipino netizens turned to microblogging site Twitter to welcome Castro.

"@ANCALERTS The World Tonight is not The World Tonight w/o Angelo Castro Jr. Welcome back!" user batang_munti tweeted.

"THE ONE AND ONLY...Mr. Angelo Castro Jr. on #TheWorldTonight! Oh yeah! @ANCALERTS" user blockerZENPH added.

"@ANCALERTS Nice to see Angelo Castro back on air for World Tonight," user JMiguelO said.

Even personalities such as Deputy Presidential Spokesperson Abigail Valte and former Comelec commissioner Gregorio Larrazabal posted their reactions on Twitter.

"Angelo Castro Jr!!!!!!!" Valte tweeted.

"I REALLY like the news show, The World Tonight! Angelo Castro, Tina Monzon Palma and Teddy Locsin is a really good combo!" Larrazabal said.

Castro, meanwhile, said he is happy to be back in his home network with another broadcast icon, Tina Monzon-Palma.

"I have to say I am glad to be back. Thank you and good night," he said on Monday after the newscast. -- ANC
