MANILA, Philippines – Beauty queen Dianne Necio finished in the Top 15 of the Miss International pageant, held in Chengdu, China, Sunday.
The 19-year-old Necio did not go home empty-handed, as she won the People’s Choice Award at the beauty pageant.
Miss Ecuador won the Miss International 2011 title, followed by Miss Venezuela as the first runner-up and Miss Mongolia as the second runner-up.
The Binibining Pilipinas Charities Inc. on Monday congratulated Necio for her "remarkable" Top 15 finish.
"Despite her young age, Dianne gave a splendid performance, manifested elegance, poise and sophistication and once again, made us all proud to be Filipino. We would also like to express our deepest gratitude to all those who voted for Dianne online for her to garner more than 350,000 votes thus giving her the People's Choice Award," its statement said.
In the pageant's online poll, Necio received 354,237 votes followed by Macau's representative with 318,276 votes and China with 186,395 votes. The Miss International candidate hailed as the people’s choice in its online poll is an automatic semi-finalist.
