Liza Soberano and Enrique Gil on Tuesday paid tribute to Nonong de Andres, or “Tito Bangky” to them, following news of the character actor’s passing.
De Andres was a cast member of “Forevermore,” the primetime series that launched the tandem of Soberano and Gil in 2014. He credited the ABS-CBN program for fulfilling a life-long dream of becoming an actor, apart from his bit roles in horror films that earned him the “bangkay” moniker in the ‘90s.
In “Forevermore,” de Andres finally stretched his acting muscles with his endearing portrayal of Bangky, whose love story with Aunor (portrayed by the late Lilia Cuntapay) became a surprise hit with viewers. The pairing even spawned a nickname — “BangLi.”
The character was also a father figure to Gil’s Xander, who sought his advice on how to fix his relationship with Agnes, portrayed by Soberano.
On Instagram, shortly after de Andres’ death made headlines, Soberano and Gil each shared a photo of them with the late actor, with respective captions addressing their “Tito Bangky.”
“Tito Bangky, I wish I could’ve hugged you one last time. May you rest in peace. I love you! We love you,” Soberano wrote, with crying and heart emojis.
“Paalam, Tito Bangks,” Gil said, using frowning and praying emojis. “We lost [a] good one today. Goodbye kiss from Xander.”
