Miss Earth 2007 Jessica Trisko promised Thursday to go back to the Philippines after handing over her crown to her successor on Sunday.

“It's all coming to an end. I can't believe it. The year went by so fast but I will definitely be spending more time in the Philippines in the future so I’m very excited about that,” Trisko told “Mornings@ANC.”

The Canadian beauty title holder shared that during her reign she had a chance to visit so many countries like China, Vietnam, Indonesia, United States, and Puerto Rico and meet world environmental leaders.

“I think my background in international relations helped me better relate to these individuals and allowed them to really give the respect that all women deserve, all beauty queens deserve, because we do have an important role in society,” she said.

She stressed that it is important for her successor to not only showcase her beauty but more importantly prove her dedication to the cause of the pageant, which is to promote environmental protection.

She said this is why the next Miss Earth should be articulate enough to advance the cause of the pageant.

“In small ways what we really want to do is spread awareness because we [won’t] be able to change everyone’s lifestyle. But if we can change one thing about  your lifestyle, whether turning off the water while they’re brushing their teeth or turning off the lights when they leave the room, something like that, the small changes in the end make a great difference for our planet,” she added.

The Miss Earth 2008 coronation night will be held Sunday at Clark Expo Amphitheater in Angeles City, Pampanga. It will be aired on ABS-CBN Channel 2.
