Erap speaks up on Andi, Jake

MANILA, Philippines – Former President Joseph Estrada finally broke his silence on reports that he disapproves of actress Andi Eigenmann for his son Jake Ejercito.

Ejercito is the son of Estrada with former movie actress Laarni Enriquez.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News, Estrada clarified that he does not meddle with the personal life of Ejercito.

“Wala naman, wala. Hindi ako nakikialam lalo na nasa sapat na gulang na siya. Siya na ang dumiskarte sa kinabukasan niya,” he said.

Estrada said he believes his son is bright enough to know what is best for him in the future.

“Yung anak ko nag-aaral 'yun, matalino iyon eh kaya hindi ko kailangang turuan. Kung iyon ang gusto, sabi ko sa kanya, your future is in your hands. Nasa kamay mo ang kinabukasan mo. Kaya kita pinag-aaral para nasa iyo na, wala kang masabi sa akin kung anong mapili mo,” he said.

“College ka na, sa London kita pinag-aral para matuto ka ng husto. Ngayon, may edad ka na, ikaw na ang bahala sa kinabukasan mo, [pati sa dikta ng puso] bahala ka,” the former president added.

In a preview interview, veteran actress Jaclyn Jose had said that it seems Ejercito’s parents do not approve of their son having a relationship with her daughter Eigenmann because she has a child out of wedlock.

Eigenmann, however, apologized on behalf of her mother for the statements she made about Ejercito’s parents.

"In behalf of my mother, Id just like to apologize for certain things she might have said that might have put certain people in a bad light. I know, for a fact, that it wasn't her intention at all. Maybe at that point, she too was only being a mom. Just as your parents would want what's best for you, she just wants the same for me, and this time I'm guessing she just wanted to let others know that I deserve it too. (In her opinion, that is)," Eigenmann wrote in her blog.
