'Ate Vi' turns 57 1MANILA, Philippines- Batangas Gov. and "Star For All Seasons" Vilma Santos is celebrating her 57th birthday today.

Born Maria Rosa Vilma Santos, her legendary stardom started as a child wonder portraying “Trudis Liit” in 1963.

The movie gave the then 9-year-old star her first Famas award as Best Child Performer. From then on, Santos’s star continues to shine.

The multi-awarded actress is a hall of famer for winning three consecutive years the Best Actress award in Gawad Urian for films “Relasyon,” “Broken Marriage” and “Sister Stella L.”

Santos received 6 FAMAS awards, Hall of Fame Lifetime achievement award and several nominations. Her film “Relasyon” gave her grandslam awards.

Some of Santos’ best films are “Lipad, Darna, Lipad,” “Burlesk Queen,” “Gaano Kadalas ang Minsan,” “Sinasamba Kita,” “Miss X,” “Dahil Mahal Kita: The Dolzura Cortez Story,” “Anak,”  “Dekada '70,” “Bata-Bata Paano Ka Ginawa,” and recently “In My Life” with son Luis Manzano and actor John Lloyd Cruz.

The “Star For All Seasons” tied the knot with actor Edu Manzano in 1980. They separated after four years of marriage. In 1992, Santos married politician Ralph Recto. They have one son, Ryan Christian.

Fondly called as “Ate Vi,” the bankable actress entered the world of politics in 1998.

Santos won the mayoral election in Lipa City, Batangas. After 3 terms, she ran in the gubernatorial race and won.

Hailed as the "First Female Governor" of Batangas, Santos is now on her 2nd term.

Despite her busy schedule, the actress-governor still finds time to visit the colorful world of show business by occasionally doing films.
