MANILA -- "Forevermore" debuted on Monday to strong ratings, according to Kantar Media, making it the No. 1 scripted series in the Philippines for the day.
The primetime series, which features the first team-up of Enrique Gil and Liza Soberano on television, registered a nationwdie rating of 27.1%. Its competing program on GMA-7, "Hiram na Alaala," only garnered 12.8%.
Overall, the pilot episode of "Forevermore" ranked second to "TV Patrol" in the list of most watched programs across the country last Monday. ABS-CBN's flagship newscast led "Forevermore" by 0.2 percentage points.
The rest of the programs in the Top 5 were Primetime Bida offerings: "Hawak Kamay" (25.5%), "Pure Love" (24%), and "Two Wives" (18.7%).
The strong viewership of "Forevermore" on its first day was reflected in the online buzz surrounding the program. The pilot episode's official hashtag, "#ForevermoreBegins," easily ranked among the top trends on micro-blogging site Twitter.
Under the direction of Cathy Garcia-Molina and Theodore Boborol, "Forevermore" centers on the unlikely romance between Xander (Gil), the hard-headed and reckless son of a hotel magnate, and Agnes (Soberano), a feisty and devoted daughter who cultivates strawberries for a living.
"Forevermore," which airs weeknights after "Hawak Kamay," also stars Marissa Delgado, Luz Fernandez, Zoren Legaspi, Lilet, Joey Marquez, and Irma Adlawan.
