MANILA - Kapamilya actor Coco Martin on Saturday expanded his "Ang Panday" franchise to the virtual realm via a mobile game app he co-designed.

Martin partnered with game developer Synergy 88 Digital to create the action-adventure game that features his face and his voice.

"Iyong new generation ang kilala na nila sina Thor. Meron din naman tayong superheroes na maipagmamalaki. Gusto ko makilala ng mga bata sino si Panday," Martin said during the app's press launch.

Similar to Carlo J. Caparas' movie, the game's main charater Flavio will embark on an adventure where he will battle goons and ghouls with his bare fists and other weapons such as maces, motorcycles, and the legendary Panday sword.

Martin said unlike other fighting games, the app is suitable to children as young as 3 years old.

"Hindi namin ginawa na sobrang violent. Hindi lang siya laban ng laban. May reason bakit siya nakikipaglaban," he said.

(It's not very violent. It's not just about fighting. He fights for a reason.)

Pre-paid SIM load may also be used to pay for in-app purchases such as power-ups, weapon upgrades and accessories.

Game items are affordable, worth between P1 and P5, because they are designed for the masses, said Miker Rivero, Synergy 88's senior manager for business development.

As of this month, only a demo version of the game is available on Google Play.

Martin said the full version of the 64-MB mobile app will not be released until December as it serves as a sneak peek of the "Ang Panday" movie where he serves as the lead actor, director and producer.

"Bawat pupuntahan ni Panday, pupuntahan din nung game na iyan. Simulan muna natin sa games tapos after that at saka natin itawid sa pelikula," Martin said.

Cosyn Mediatech is also working on a "La Luna Sangre" game and another musical app for those who want to have duets with famous singers.
