MANILA – "“A Second Chance,” the much anticipated sequel of the popular film “One More Chance” starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo, is set to be released in theaters next month.
This was revealed by Star Cinema on Tuesday night ahead of the premiere screening of “Everyday I Love You.”
“A Second Chance” shows the continuation of the love story of Popoy (Cruz) and Basha (Alonzo), this time as a married couple.
It will still be directed by Cathy Garcia Molina, who also did the 2007 movie.
Speaking to ABS-CBN News’ MJ Felipe, Molina said doing the sequel of the popular film is one of the most difficult things she had to do as a movie director.
“It’s extremely hard making the sequel of a well-loved movie. Kasi itong pelikulang ito, hindi ko talaga in-expect na lalaki, na mamahalin ng lahat. 'Yung tipong lalapit sayo tapos sasabihin, ‘Direk nagkabalikan kami dahil sa 'One More Chance.'’ It’s an overwhelming success for a story that was intended na simpleng magpalabas lang ng pelikula about breakup,” she said.
Admitting that she is aware of the high expectations about the sequel of the movie, Molina said: “Grabe. Ang hirap hirap isipin kung paano mo at least mapapantayan ['yung nauna]. Ang mapantayan ko, sobrang saya na namin doon.”
Compared to the other romantic movies released by Star Cinema, Molina said the reunion film of John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo will not just offer a “kilig” story.
“Yung walong taon na humiwalay kami sa kuwento ng ‘One More Chance,’ kanya kanya kami. Marami kaming pinagdaanan. It’s just right na yung papanoorin niyo rin na sequel, parang marami ring pinagdaanan. It was difficult thinking about what’s next, difficult doing it, difficult sa lahat ng bagay,” she said.
