MANILA—Lea Salonga has a representative in the grand finals of "The Voice Kids" next week.
Salonga decided to go with Cyd Pangca, an 11-year-old who hails from Bukidnon, after hearing all of the live performances of her remaining bets, which included those from Gaea Salipot and Alexa Salcedo, on Saturday's episode of the singing contest.
Pangca sang the Broadway song "You Will Be Found," and Salonga said she was looking to see if he is up to the task of singing emotionally charged lyrics.
"Isa lang naman ang gusto ko, na mangibabaw iyong puso . . . because that's what makes you different and special," Salonga said.
Pangca moving forward, sadly, meant that Salcedo, who made the Eraserheads' proud with her cover of "Ligaya," and Salipot, who performed a rendition of "I Believe I Can Fly," were eliminated.
Reaching the grand finals can be seen as redemption for Pangca, who only managed to make it to the Battle Rounds during his first go in "The Voice Kids" before exiting the show.
The representatives of the team of Sarah Geronimo and Bamboo will be determined in the next two episodes.
