MANILA - Here's a taste of what to expect from the second season of "The Voice of the Philippines" when it premieres this weekend on ABS-CBN.
In a two-minute preview of the Blind Auditions, a female police officer named Jannet takes the stage with a powerful rendition of the Eva Eugenio hit "Tukso." She managed to turn at least one of four chairs, although it was not show which coach pushed his or her button.
Another preview shows a woman named Tanya growling the high notes of "What About Love," as popularized by Heart. No chair turned in the preview, although it remains to be seen in the full episode if Tanya got into any team.
"The Voice of the Philippines," which will premiere Sunday at 8:30 p.m., is hosted by Toni Gonzaga and Luis Manzano, with Alex Gonzaga and Robi Domingo as V Reporters.
Manzano and Alex Gonzaga co-hosted "The Voice Kids" early this year. Toni Gonzaga was the original host of the first adults edition. Domingo was also the first season's V Reporter, along with Alex Gonzaga.
Returning as coaches are Lea Salonga, Bamboo Manalac, Sarah Geronimo and Allan "apl.de.ap" Pineda Lindo. The Black Eyed Peas member did not join "The Voice Kids," which, as in the global format, only had three coaches.
In last year's top-rating debut season of the show, Draybers vocalist Mitoy Yonting clinched the title, making Salonga the first winning coach of "The Voice" in the Philippines."
