MANILA, Philippines (2nd UPDATE) - International singing sensation and country's pride Charice, along with legendary songwriter David Foster and international singer Natalie Cole, arrived here Thursday afternoon after their successful "David Foster & Friends Asian Tour" show in Japan.

Charice, Foster and Cole arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport at 1:15 p.m. via Japan Airlines JAL 741.

Foster was accompanied by his girlfriend, Yolanda.

Charice will join Peter Cetera, Canadian Tenors, Ruben Studdard and Cole, among others, at the Araneta Coliseum in Quezon City on October 23 for the “David Foster & Friends” concert. Charice is part of "David Foster & Friends Asian Tour," and Japan was one of the tour's stopovers.

Foster told ABS-CBN News that he is happy to be in the Philippines and perform alongside Charice in Manila.

Foster said he got close to Filipinos after helping Charice in her international career. “Everyday there's a Filipino who thanks me, literally everyday, thanking me because of Charice.”

Charice, on the other hand, thanked all her supporters as she invited them to watch their concert at the Big Dome.

From the airport, Charice’s group proceeded to a hotel in Pasay City where a press conference was organized.

During the press conference, Studdard admitted that he is also a big Charice fan.

“I think Charice is a wonderful singer. She'll be performing for years to come…. She's my little sister and I think she's one of the best singers in my life,” he said.

Foster was confident that Charice’s career will continue to soar with her talent.

“We gave her a gold record in Japan last night… The voice is getting better everyday. Charice is like getting better everyday. She's a laser beam,” he said.

Last October 19, Charice, Foster and other international artists have taken Japan by storm after their performance at the Tokyo International Forum.

Last October 15, Charice got 2 standing ovations in Las Vegas where she joined other artists for the "One and Only Hit-Man David Foster and Friends" concert held at Mandalay Bay Events Center.

Charice, who plays Sunshine Corazon in "Glee," said her song numbers are just a preview of what's in store for those who are planning to watch Foster's concert in Manila on October 23.

Meanwhile, airport authorities scored Ultimate Production (not Ovation Production as earlier reported), which produced the Manila concert, for breaching security protocol at the airport.

Consuelo Bungag, head of the Public Affairs Office at the Manila International Airport Authority, said airport officials were surprised after Charice’s group failed to go through the immigration and customs documents and passenger check.

Bungag said Ultimate Production should have coordinated with them. -–With a report from Gretchen Fullido, ABS-CBN News
