10 years of Kapamilya Christmas station IDs

MANILA, Philippines – For over a decade, ABS-CBN has been at the forefront of celebrating the holidays with Filipinos all over the world through its annual Christmas station ID's. Now, Kapamilyas for the first time can go down memory lane and re-watch their favorite holiday music videos, dating back to 2002.



ABS-CBN, through its official page on video-sharing site YouTube, has made available for viewing ten years of Kapamilya Christmas station ID's. This comes only days after its 2012 holiday slogan, "Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko," and its accompanying music video was launched on Wednesday.

The oldest entry, ABS-CBN's holiday station ID in 2002 (above), took on the theme "Isang Pamilya, Isang Puso Ngayong Pasko." Notable appearances include the coming together of the late film icons Dolphy and Fernando Poe, Jr., and erstwhile rivals Nora Aunor and Vilma Santos in one production.



The year 2004 (above), meanwhile, marked the first time composer Robert Labayen wrote a song for the Kapamilya network's station ID. The music video, which highlighted the theme "Sabay Tayo, Kapamilya," gathered hundreds of ABS-CBN personalities on one stage.

"Walang Mag-Iisa Ngayong Pasko" in 2007 sought to impart the sense of community and family among Filipinos even to those based overseas. The station ID, like its predecessor in 2003, opted to highlight spoken messages from Kapamilya personalities over a lyrical score.



In what would become its most popular holiday station ID, ABS-CBN gave tribute to the "unsinkable Filipino spirit" even after the "Ondoy" tragedy that his parts of the country in 2009. "Bro, Ikaw ang Star ng Pasko," (above) remains a favorite among Kapamilyas during the Christmas season.

On Wednesday (October 17), the Kapamilya network aired for the first time its 2012 Christmas station ID, which was welcomed by excitement by Filipino TV viewers. Similar to "Bro," “Lumiliwanag ang Mundo sa Kwento ng Pasko" also highlights "how the Filipino spirit always shines through despite calamities that ravage the country."
