Pinoy indie film to compete in Argentine filmfest

MANILA, Philippines - Filipino independent film “Chassis” is competing in the 25th Mar del Plata International Film Festival this November 14-21 in Argentina.

Adolfo Alix Jr.'s “Chassis” is the first Filipino film to compete in the Argentine film festival.

It also had successful screenings in the Pusan and Vancouver International Film Festivals.

Prizes in the main competition include Best Film, Best Director, Best Actress, Best Actor, and Best Screenplay.

The film, starring Jodi Sta. Maria, is about a homeless mother who tries to meet ends in the South Harbor. It also stars Lemuel Pelayo, Evelyn Vargas, Rustica Carpio, Angeli Bayani and Kimberly Fulgar.

"Chassis" is produced by Happy Gilmore Productions, and will be released in local theaters this December.

The Mar del Plata International Film Festival is the only A-list competitive feature festival recognized by the FIAPF (International Federation of Film Producers Associations) in Latin America, and the oldest in this category in the Americas.
