MANILA, Philippines – Actress Andi Eigenmann revealed there were several instances when she almost gave up her role in the movie “A Secret Affair” because she was really having a hard time.

In an interview with ABS-CBN News on Tuesday, Eigenmann said she was scared the entire time she was shooting the film since she has not done anything close to it in the past.

“I cry almost every day of shooting. I’m just also so lucky that these people have been so patient with me. They understood na this is my first and I haven’t done anything close to this,” she said.

“For someone who just got back to showbiz, who went through quite a lot and marami na ang nababato sa akin na salita na hindi naman po talaga maganda, it wouldn’t really be easy for someone like me,” she added.

Eigenmann considers her role in the movie the most challenging she’s ever done.

“Malayo [kasi] sa sarili ko yung character na pino-portray ko. She says and does things na I don’t normally do in real life. Mahirap po talaga. Yung magbato ng mga linya na ganun, aakalain mo madali pero hindi talaga,” she explained.

Eigenmann noted, however, that as an actress, it is her job be good in any role.

“All I want is to be a better actress each time I do a project. I want the people who entrusted me to do it to be proud and at the same time touch the hearts of the viewers,” she said.

Eigenmann said she is grateful that many people appreciate her acting.

“That’s a nice thing naman po about Viva. When I got the opportunity to be a part of this film and I know that the character didn’t suit me at all, hindi naman po naman nila pinilit. They’re really taking care of me. 'Yung script po, they tweaked it a little bit... kaya po naging bagay sa akin ang role,” she said.

As for people saying the it is just right that the role was given to her after actress KC Concepcion backed out, Eigenmann only said people cannot compare her and Concepcion since they’re two different people.

“It just so happens na 'yung role na pinortray ko, nagampanan ko siya ng maayos, ibig po siguro sabihin na I was meant to do it. Pero with KC naman, she’s just meant to do something else, something that’s going to be better for her personally. Just because she didn’t push through with the project, obviously she has reasons for her benefit also,” she said. - with a report from Mario Dumaual, ABS-CBN News
