A 14-year-old “Tawag ng Tanghalan” hopeful ended up with an audition slot for the reality show “Pinoy Big Brother” (PBB), after she endeared herself to the audience, and apparently talent scouts, with her earnest attitude about pursuing big dreams in showbiz.
In an official video that ranked in YouTube’s Trending over the weekend, Davao del Norte singer Angelie Reposposa drew applause and laughter from the entire “It’s Showtime” studio, with her innocent demeanor and unabashed excitement about becoming an “artista.”
Reposposa, who comes from a family of singers, said that aside from going professional, one of her dreams is to join the reality TV show's upcoming season.
From the initial amusement of wearing a nearly identical outfit as host Mariel Padilla, Reposposa’s post-performance interview on Saturday snowballed into an audition piece for “PBB” that also saw her dancing.
Apparently catching the attention of producers of “Star Hunt” — ABS-CBN’s televisied audition caravan for several Kapamilya shows, including “PBB” — hosts Vice Ganda and Padilla were informed, during the live show, that Reposposa had just earned a slot for a legitimate audition.
During the segment, Reposposa’s oft-repeated answer to a variety of questions — “yes, ma’am” — became a running joke, to the point of the phrase being used as her nickname.
The teen singer also had the audience laughing as she struggled to choose between staying on in “Tawag ng Tanghalan” and joining “PBB,” should she become a defending champion and a newly appointed housemate.
That dilemma unfolded in a conversation with the “Kuya,” the all-seeing figure of “PBB,” who turned out to be host Jhong Hilario imitating the distinct voice.
Reposposa did win among the crop of fresh contenders, but failed to unseat the defending champion Mayleah Gom-Os.
