MANILA - Former ABS-CBN actress Heart Evangelista is not counting on her parents' presence when she gets married to Sen. Francis "Chiz" Escudero on February 15 of next year.

In an episode of morning talk show "Basta Every Day, Happy," Evangelista said that while her parents, Rey and Cecile Ongpauco, have given their blessing on the wedding, they still have no plans of attending the ceremony to be held in Balesin Island Club.

"Although ibinigay nila 'yung blessing na magpakasal, hindi raw talaga nila kayang makitang magpakasal ako," she said. "Pero, the good news, pinayagan nila lahat ng mga kapatid ko [na pumunta]."

She added: "Magkikita na lang kami pagdating ko sa Manila, pero sa kasal... Okay na siguro, kung nahihirapan sila. Ako lang naman siguro makakaintindi no'n, so okay lang sa akin. Video nalang ipapakita ko."

Evangelista's parents publicly disapproved of the 29-year-old actress' relationship with Escudero, who is 15 years her senior. In a March 2013 press conference, Mr. and Mrs. Ongpauco accused Escudero of being disrespectful and an alcoholic, and urged him to leave their daughter.

Defying her parents, Evangelista stood by Escudero, prompting her to live independently from her family. While Evangelista and her father were on speaking terms by July 2013, the actress and her mother had still yet to mend ties in May 2014.

At the time, Evangelista told ABS-CBN News that "[her] mind kind of goes on shutdown" where her mother is concerned. "But, you know, she'll always be my mom and I'll always love her. Ganoon lang talaga. I guess that's life. You can't have everything," she said, days before last Mother's Day.

When Evangelista and Escudero got engaged, Mr. Ongpauco sent a congratulatory message to his daughter. Days later, Evangelista finally mended ties with her mother. However, the couple, by Evangelista's admission, has yet to fully accept Escudero as her husband-to-be.

Despite her parents' absence on her wedding day, Evangelista said she has much to look forward to after exchanging vows with Escudero.

"[I'm looking forward to] the everyday life lang. Finally, relaxed na kayo. Wala kayong pag-aawayan, dahil lahat nalang pinag-aawayan niyo dati. Siguro ngayon, mag-se-settle na kami. The consistency of a life together is what I look forward to," she said.
