MANILA, Philippines - ABS-CBN's Star Magic on Tuesday confirmed receiving numerous e-mails from fans threatening Gerald Anderson, Bea Alonzo and their respective families.
In a statement, Star Magic, which handles the careers of Anderson and Alonzo, also disclosed that some of its personnel as well as some executives of ABS-CBN have become targets of these “threatening e-mails.”
Star Magic has already forwarded the e-mails to proper authorities “to determine if these people can be identified, caught and prosecuted.”
“As we do this, we also appeal to them to please stop the threats and respect the personal decisions of our artists," the statement said.
It was reported that the threats came from the avid supporters of Anderson and Kim Chiu tandem who purportedly got irked after reports came out that they have split up.
Anderson and Chiu have long been rumored to being a couple in real life, but they denied it. Anderson is now reportedly courting Alonzo.
The “Kimerald” fans, meantime, rebuffed allegations that they were responsible for the “threatening e-mails.”
Star Magic released its statement after Anderson’s emotional outburst during the press conference for Star Cinema's upcoming film "Till My Heartaches End."
Chiu and Anderson are the lead stars of "Till My Heartaches End."
Chiu also burst into tears as Anderson poured his heart out.
After expressing his thoughts, Anderson excused himself from the event and didn't come back.
According to ABS-CBN executive Eric John Salut, Anderson failed to return to the press conference after he hyperventilated.
The actor was checked by ABS-CBN's medical team, and is now in stable condition.
Chiu, meantime, appealed to their fans and supporters to respect their personal decisions, saying that, although they are celebrities, they are still entitled to their privacy.
Ayoko ng ganoon," she said.
She said Anderson is a human being who can commit mistakes.
Chiu also thanked her fans for their support, and expressed hope that things would turn out for the better.
