MANILA, Philippines - After six years of taking a break from show business, veteran actress Barbara Perez is back on television via ABS-CBN's newest series, "Budoy."

In an interview with abs-cbnNEWS.com, Perez said she is happy to be back to doing acting projects.

"Yes, this is my comeback project sa lahat, the industry itself. Kasi even before, I pop in and out of the industry because my daughters were growing up and I felt that I had to be with them. Pagkatapos, lumabas na naman ako at nawala na naman ako dahil 'yung mga apo ko naman ang binabantayan ko," she said.

"So now, I'm so thankful to ABS-CBN for giving me this beautiful project," she added.

Perez said she accepted the project right after it was offered to her. She added that her husband, veteran actor Robert Arevalo, supports her decision to be part of "Budoy."

"Right away, yes. Hindi ako nagdalawang-isip. I'd been offered before na tinanggihan ko but this time, I accepted it right away," the veteran actress said.

Perez, often referred to as the Audrey Hepburn of the Philippines, then vowed to do better in the series.

"I want to do better as the teleserye goes on. Sabi ko, I felt it was a good project, but more so now. Ang daming purpose ng teleseryeng ito at madaming mabubuksan ang isip tungkol sa mga mentally challenged children," she said.

"Panoorin niyo ang 'Budoy,' ito ay teleseryeng kakaiba at madaming matututunan," she added.

"Budoy," a story about love and acceptance, premiered on Monday. It airs weeknights after "100 Days to Heaven."
