MANILA -- It was back in 2008 when Robi Domingo was named as the first runner-up of the second teen edition of "Pinoy Big Brother."
This week, the TV host revealed that he spent the P500,000 cash prize he won from the show in just seven days, describing his lavishness during that time as "embarrassing."
Domingo opened up about the money in a video where he was revealed as one of the endorsers for a campaign by a local financial company aimed at encouraging more Filipinos to start saving.
"I won P500,000 in a reality show and I spent it all in one week," he admitted, apparently referring to his "Pinoy Big Brother" stint.
"Hindi ko nga alam bakit nila ako kinuhang endorser dito."
Domingo finished as runner-up to Ejay Falcon in 2008's "Pinoy Big Brother: Teen Edition Plus." He went on to host a variety of shows -- both for ABS-CBN and MYX Philippines.
He was tagged to promote the "#PlsSaveMe" movement, which has been asking Filipinos online to share stories of their bad spending habits, hoping that it will inspire others to be more frugal.
The campaign cites a Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas report that found that only 35.2% of Filipino households, without going into specifics, had "any savings at all from April to June this year."
