MANILA – Xyriel Manabat is aware that she recently trended on social media -- and not because of reasons she considers flattering.

In an interview with Toni Gonzaga for “I Feel U,” Manabat said it was disappointing some netizens reacted over her Instagram photos as a young lady.

Admitting she felt disrespected by some comments, Manabat said: “Hindi lang po comments or captions ang ginagawa sa pictures ko. May mga nag-e-edit, may mga nagse-send sa groups. Bakit?

The 16-year-old former child star also shared that she cried over the matter at first. However, she eventually got over it, thanks to her support system.

I know po na I have every right to make an act, a legal act kaya hindi na rin po ako na-down. I feel so empowered po because many people are supporting and protecting me from them,” she said.

Nonetheless, Manabat doesn’t consider this her greatest challenge as she transitions into a fine young lady.

When asked if she has a message to disrespectful netizens, Manabat channeled her character Madam Anna Manalastas and said: “Sa bawat mga masasamang salita na lumalabas sa bibig niyo, sa mga pananakit niyo sa ibang tao, nakakatulong ka ba sa lipunan? Kuha mo?”

She also has a message to people her age who are also victims of bashing and bullying online.

“Hangga’t alam mong nasa tama ka, kapag alam mong wala kang ginagawang mali, wala kang tinatapakang iba, huwag kang matakot. Kasama mo kami sa bawat laban mo,” she said.
