MANILA, Philippines – The pilot episode of the much awaited ABS-CBN television series of Angel Locsin and John Lloyd Cruz on Monday drew an impressive high TV rating and rave reviews from the viewers.
“Imortal,” Locsin and Cruz’s first TV project together, garnered 34.4% audience share, according to the October 4 data released by Kantar Media-TNS survey.
It also showed that the action-fantaserye toppled rival GMA 7’s “Grazilda,” which grabbed 22.7% audience share.
"Imortal" tells the story of how great love can stop the centuries-old war between werewolves and vampires.
Lia (Locsin), a half human, half werewolf who is out to redeem the honor of her parents, will find herself falling in love with Mateo (Cruz), the next most powerful vampire.
As faith dictates, the two were born with special birth marks symbolizing their power. Lia and Mateo are destined to become mortal enemies, but love will change everything.
The pilot week was directed by Chito Roño, the genius behind box-office horror films “Feng Shui” and “Sukob.” Also at the helm of “Imortal” are directors Trina Dayrit (Tayong Dalawa) and Jerry Lopez Sineneng (Kahit Isang Saglit).
“Imortal” also stars Maricar Reyes, Rico Blanco, Jomari Yllana, Jake Roxas, Vivian Velez, Johnny Revilla, and Jaime Fabregas.
Viewers turned to social networking sites to applaud “Imortal’s” pilot episode and its cast and crew.

She also thanked all the netizens who congratulated her and the show' staff for a job well done.
"naniningkit nanaman ako ngayon sa kakangiti habang binabasa po mga tweets nyo tungkol sa #Imortal :) Maraming salamat po :)," she tweeted.
Locsin has done numerous action-fantaseryes in the past, the last one being “Lobo” wherein her performance earned her a Best Actress nomination from the International Emmy Awards.
In her earlier interview, the actress admitted feeling the pressure of making “Imortal” as successful as “Lobo.”
On the other hand, “Imortal” is Cruz’s first venture in the action-fantaserye genre. The premiere actor-leading man is more known for his remarkable drama and romantic projects.
Playing Mateo, Cruz said being part of “Imortal” makes him feel excited as an actor.
