MANILA – Coleen Garcia was a vision in gold in last weekend’s ABS-CBN Ball, where she wore a form-fitting dress by Patricia Santos.

The actress had a great night with her husband, Billy Crawford, and her fellow Kapamilya stars, not showing signs of fatigue.

But did you know that she almost missed the ABS-CBN Ball?

On Monday night, Garcia took to Instagram to reveal her struggles before arriving at the ABS-CBN Ball red carpet.

The actress, who came from a work trip in Paris, had to endure food poisoning, lack of sleep, and a missed flight, to name a few.

And she had to go through all of those things alone.

“So I flew from Paris to Bangkok, had one meal in the plane, got food poisoning, did not sleep at all and kept vomiting on the way back. It was so bad. Once I landed in BKK, I didn’t have much time but I was struggling to not pass out while walking in the airport! First time and I was alone!” she said. “My vision was a blur, my body felt like it was melting, and my head was spinning so bad so I went straight to the nearest restroom and collapsed in the cubicle before continuing to throw up what was left of my guts.”

“I inched my way to the lounge and the same thing happened until I heard my name being called. So with all my energy, I ran to the gate. I ended up missing my flight by one minute and it made me cry in the airport out of frustration. And those who know me know that I don’t usually cry!”

Garcia was able to get another flight “at no additional cost,” but this meant arriving at 7 p.m. instead of the original schedule of 11 a.m.

“Our call time was at 6 p.m. I still hadn’t fit my gown and I had no idea how I was going to make it in time. I was able to rest and recover in the lounge before rushing like there’s no tomorrow once I landed in MNL,” she said. “On top of that, I was told that one of my bags got left behind. All of this after Paris, where I had multiple events per day.”

Garcia went on to thank all those who helped her make it to the ABS-CBN Ball: “The reason why I’m sharing this is because I’m blessed to know wonderful people who gladly came through when I needed it the most.”

“Lovi Poe ended up fitting my dress for me (though I can’t believe we have the same waistline ‘cause hello, look at her! But then again, food poisoning), and Kylie Verzosa and Mica initially offered up their room in Shang before Tita Cory (Vidanes) heard what was going on and stepped in to save the day. It really saved me so much time and trouble! I could not thank you girls enough, you are all true friends! And thank you, Tita Cory!”

She also thanked her husband, Crawford, as well as all the other people who assisted her upon arriving at the airport.

“Whatever it is, I’m just happy that I made it to the ball in one piece and enjoyed the rest of the night with good company. I cannot tell you enough how happy I was to be there!”

Crawford, for his part, said he is thankful that his wife was able to return safely to Manila.

“Thank you, Lord, for bringing my wife back to me safe and sound. She had the craziest day ever. Turned out to be a great night!” he said in an Instagram post.
