MANILA - Even as a child Tony Labrusca, one of the auditionees of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar," felt that he had to find the answers to his questions about his real father. When he was little, he knew him only by name. He's an actor in the Philippines, his mother said.
And after growing tired with this nagging feeling, Tony, who grew up in Canada, decided to return to the Philippines to find out more about himself. "Sana ito na talaga ang simula para mahanap ko na lahat ng kasagutan ko sa buhay," he said.
On Saturday, Tony got one of his wishes. He had an emotional reunion with actor Boom Labrusca, his biological father, in an episode of the ABS-CBN's newest talent show.
"I really don't know kung ano iyong dapat kong maramdaman. Kasi nung first na nakita ko iyong tatay ko, parang hindi ko maiiwas na he's my blood kaya kahit parang stranger siya sa akin, I see so much of myself in him," Tony said.
Boom told his son in reply: "I'm so proud of you. For now, I just want to tell you na ang galing mo."
Explaining perhaps what happened in the past, Boom, who is engaged to be married to actress Desiree del Valle, furthered: "Si God kasi may mga ways iyan. So dati, hindi natin mapipilit iyong mga bagay na wala pa doon eh. At least now nandito na siya, everything's okay, and maybe from there, alam mong magkaayos-ayos ang lahat."
And following the heartwarming moment, the judges of "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" told Tony, who performed Lifehouse's "You and Me" for his audition, that he will be moving on the next round of the contest.
Hosted by Billy Crawford, "Pinoy Boyband Superstar" airs Saturdays after "Home Sweetie Home" and on Sundays after "Goin' Bulilit."
