"I've seen evil. And I'm looking at it right now," Michael Fassbender's Magneto warns at the end of the first trailer for the upcoming "X-Men: Dark Phoenix" movie, which dropped this Thursday.
The video shows a glimpse of a much, much darker Jean Grey (Sophie Turner), one who is "all rage and pain" that our mutant heroes will need to stop if they want to keep the world from burning.
There are apocalyptic consequences, it appears, if they let her turn into the supremely powerful mutant, known in the comics as Phoenix.
The movie adapts the iconic "Dark Phoenix Saga" story, written by Chris Claremont, Dave Cockrum and John Byrne, which also inspired 2006's "X-Men: The Last Stand."
Originally slated for a November release, it will now come out on February 2019 to accommodate reshoots.
