MANILA -- The weekend game show featuring the mysterious "banker" and his 24 briefcases will bow out of local television on Saturday, with a final episode touted to see a "historic" moment in the ABS-CBN program.

Hosted by Luis Manzano, "Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal" will air its finale on Saturday, September 28, after more than a year and a half on air.

This edition of "Deal or No Deal," which premiered in February 2012, is the fourth installment and the first to be hosted by Manzano since the hit global franchise premiered on Philippine TV in 2006.

The first three seasons were hosted by Kris Aquino.

"We are very happy that for the first time, the show aired for more than a year," Manzano said. "I had very big shoes to fill and I was nervous doing the project, but the fact that we aired longer than expected means we did something right."

Manzano, who currently hosts the daytime game show "Minute to Win It," said he credits his stint in "Deal or No Deal" for honing his skills as a game show master.

"It was my first game show to host solo, so it was truly a memorable experience for me. The fact that they trusted me with a big show was a big deal for a host like me. I can say after more than a year on air, I have learned so much, from the contestants, staff, and everyone else," he said.

As in the show's international format, "Deal or No Deal" contestants pick between an unknown amount of cash prize inside their chosen briefcase and the changing offers of a "banker" based on the revealed values of 23 other briefcases in play.

Asked what he will miss most about hosting the game show, Manzano said, "I will definitely miss the energy, the tension, the banker's voice, and the total cluelessness of the amount when the briefcases are being opened plus everyone who was part of the show."

For its final episode, "Deal or No Deal" will have veteran ABS-CBN journalist Korina Sanchez as the guest contestant. Taped in late June, the episode, according to Sanchez, will see a "historic" moment in the game show.

"Oh my God! Ang masasabi ko lang, it's historic! It's historic," she told ABS-CBN News at the time. "I think it's the first in the history of 'Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal,' so kailangan talaga panoorin nila!"

Since its debut telecast, this season of "Deal or No Deal" has only had four millionaire winners.

"Kapamilya, Deal or No Deal" will air its final episode on ABS-CBN after "TV Patrol: Weekend." is the news website of ABS-CBN Corp.
