MANILA - Cheats, one of the country's promising bands led by musician and radio host Saab Magalona, has been selected to be participate in the upcoming St. Jerome's Laneway Festival to be held at The Meadow, Singapore.
Founded by Manny Tanglao and Magalona's husband Jim Bacarro, Cheats is the only representative from the Philippines. The eight-member band also includes Candy Gamos, Ernest Aguila, Mau Torralba, Enzo Hermosa, and Jason Caballa.

"With influences ranging from LCD Soundsystem and Arcade Fire, to Radiohead and Spice Girls, the band’s sound is a delightful mix of sweet melodies with a bitter aftertaste," Laneway wrote as the description for Cheats.
"It makes you high and carefree in the moment, but leaves you sad and forlorn thereafter. Or maybe it could just be a desire for more of their music after the lights come on," it added.

The headliners for the annual music festival include Battles, Beach House, Purity Ring, The Internet, Flume, and DIIV. Grimes and Chvrches, who has performed in the Philippines, will also be part of the event.
St. Jerome's Laneway Festival Singapore will be on January 30.
