MANILA - Actress Cherry Pie Picache has spoken up on the "gruesome crime" committed against her mother, who was found dead with stab wounds inside their home in Quezon City late Friday.

Picache and her family said they are "very aggrieved from this unfortunate event," and have pinned their hopes on the Quezon City Police Department (QCPD) to nab the unidentified assailants.

As of posting, the investigation into the death of Picache's mother, Zenaida Sison, was still ongoing.

"We trust that the QCPD together with the Scene of Crime Operation (SOCO) through their vigilance and effort will apprehend the person or persons who committed this gruesome crime against our mother and family and to our society," the family said.

"We would like to thank the office of the mayor of Quezon City, Herbert Bautista for their immediate action. Harlene Bautista Tejedor for her assistance."

The family went on to name several officers of the QCPD and SOCO "for their immediate and efficient processing of the crime scene."

"In behalf of my whole family, we graciously thank all of you who were there in the time that we needed it most. We would like to ask for your prayers continually. We know that our God is merciful and just and that through these all, justice will be served," the family said.
