Mystica and Rhed Bustamante, two former TV stars whose stories away from the limelight recently made headlines, have both found a new start in showbiz via "FPJ's Ang Probinsyano."
The two made their debut appearance in the primetime series in its September 17 episode, where they Mystica was introduced as Rosa, and Bustamante, as Ana.
In one scene, a short-tempered Rosa scolds Ana and pulls her hair over the untidy living room. Another boy, who appears to be Ana's younger sibling, is also reduced to tears by Rosa's outburst.
Rosa's behavior instantly simmers, however, as she makes a transaction with the group of Bong (Nikko Natividad) and Patrick (CJ Ramos), and when she has a sweet moment with a man who appears to be her boyfriend.
Mystica, a former sexy performer, had long been inactive from showbiz when she sought the help of Coco Martin, the star of "Ang Probinsyano" and also one of its directors, to help her make a comeback.
Her callout was apparently heeded soon enough, as Mystica, a week later, announced that she would temporarily stop her small business of selling fried chicken to prepare for a new job.
Eleven-year-old Bustamante, meanwhile, was recently featured in the Sunday magazine program "Rated K," where she shared her life after her short-lived career as a child star.
After a string of starring roles on the small and big screen, Bustamante said further offers suddenly ran short, until she and her family had to relocate to a cheaper home. She also had to help her mother sell food on the side of a railway in Samapaloc, Manila.
Her story appears to have also reached Martin, who has made it a point to help give jobs to struggling or embattled former actors, by casting them in guest roles in "Ang Probinsyano."
Recently, the likes of Mark Anthony Fernandez, Whitney Tyson, and CJ Ramos appeared on the long-running program, with varying lengths of participation.
