Antoinette Jadaone's "Love You to the Stars and Back" starring the promising pairing of Joshua Garcia and Julia Barretto has now made P102 million at the box office.
Star Cinema announced the figure on Sunday, more than two weeks since releasing it last August 30.
It is now just about P21 million short of matching the total box-office gross of Metro Manila Film Festival 2016 entry "Vince & Kath & James," Barretto and Garcia's last big screen outing.
It is also P32 million away from surpassing Jadaone's smash hit, "That Thing Called Tadhana," which was released back in 2014.
In "Love You to the Stars and Back," Barretto plays Mika, a girl who believes in aliens and is on a journey to have herself abducted after her mother died. She then meets by chance Caloy (Garcia), whom she falls in love with before discovering that he has cancer.
It has been receiving positive feedback and glowing reviews from critics, with some noting Jadaone's ability to "create uniquely Pinoy situations to generate romantic thrills."
The movie is still showing in cinemas nationwide.
