MANILA, Philippines (UPDATED) – The Romulo family said they consider Valenzuela Councilor Shalani Soledad, the fiancée of Pasig City Rep. Roman Romulo, an answered prayer.

In an exclusive interview with ABS-CBN News on Thursday, family members said they were happy when Romulo announced his plan to marry Soledad.

The family said they consider Romulo and Soledad “a perfect match made in heaven.”

Romulo’s sister Mons also said all of them in the family love Soledad and they are looking forward to the couple’s wedding set in 2012.

“Tanggap na tanggap. We're happy she's an answered prayer already because ang gusto lang namin sa kapatid namin someone who will love and support him and his public service. It's a match made in heaven and only God can make it more perfect,” she said.

“Shalani is very loveable. Ever since I saw Shalani I really told my brother ‘She's the right girl for you.’ And everything fell into place,” Mons added.

Romulo announced his engagement to Soledad on Wednesday.

The lawmaker said he proposed to Soledad at the Our Lady of Fatima church in Valenzuela.

Romulo related he first asked for Shalani's hand from her mother, Evelyn Soledad, 3 weeks ago.

The engagement party of Romulo and Soledad is scheduled next week in Pasig City.
