He's admittedly a huge fan of Lea Salonga.
And 10-year-old Jeirald Bantilan was sly in his song choice for his blind audition, no doubt aware that the Broadway star will quickly recognize it and perhaps make her notice him more.
As shown in Saturday's "The Voice Kids," Bantilan chose "Bakit Ako Mahihiya," the same song Mitoy Yonting sang for his blind audition.
For those who did not know, Yonting won the first season of "The Voice of the Philippines" as part of Salonga's team.
And as with Yonting, Bantilan also made Salonga turn for him.
Salonga noted that she was mainly impressed with the power in his voice. She also noted that she believes Bantilan has the stamina to support his style, given his athletic background.
Bantilan, who hails from Zamboanga del Norte, said that aside from singing his hobbies include gymnastics.
"I would like to work with somebody like you," Salonga said.
Coach Sarah Geronimo also turned for Bantilan but the kid eventually went with his obvious first choice.
