MANILA -- Four years after her last ABS-CBN series "Walang Hanggan," actress Rita Avila returns to the Kapamilya network via the upcoming series "Magpahanggang Wakas," which is being directed by her husband FM Reyes.

In a recent press conference for the series which stars Jericho Rosales and Arci Muñoz, Avila said she missed being directed by her husband.

"Kapag nakikita ko 'yung ginagawa niyang shows, kahit 'yung pinakamaliit na actor ay nagsha-shine. So after 15 years, ito magkatrabaho na naman kami," said Avila, who last worked with Reyes in the drama series "Marinella" 15 years ago.

"During the first day, pareho kaming naiilang sa isa't isa. Parang strange 'yung feeling na suddenly we are working together again but it's a pleasure at the same time. Kung nacha-challenge siya lalo naman ako dahil I have to keep up to his standards," she added.

For his part, director Reyes admitted that he was surprised when he saw that Avila on the set of the soap.

"Actually nagulat na lang po ako. Dumating ako sa set ay nandoon siya. Sabi ko, 'Ano ginagawa mo dito? Di ba dapat nandoon ka nagluluto sa bahay?' Sabi niya, 'Tinawagan ako ni RSB (business unit head Ruel S. Bayani).' So hindi na po ako makahindi dahil baka ma-outside de kulambo po ako," Reyes said.

Reyes admitted that it was not easy for him to direct somebody who is really close to him.

"Mahirap po para sa amin because I know her very well, I know her body of work, and on the personal side, the one reason I fell in love with her is because she's very, very intelligent as an actress. I worked with her a long time ago, 15 years ago, and that impressed me," he said.

"I find it always challenging na kapag dumarating sa set ay may ipapagawa ako sa kanya and she's really, really quiet thinking about it. But then when she performs medyo natatameme po ako," Reyes added.

"Magpahanggang Wakas" will debut on ABS-CBN's primetime block on September 19.
