MANILA – The Filipino movie “Madilim ang Gabi” (Dark is the Night) from independent filmmaker Adolfo Alix Jr. made its world premiere at the ongoing Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF).

According to the TIFF website, the film “looks at the appalling costs of current Philippine president Rodrigo Duterte's extrajudicial war on the country's drug trade, which by conservative estimates has already resulted in 7,000 deaths.”

The film tells the story of a couple who scour the streets of Manila looking for their missing son, who is a drug addict. It stars starring Gina Alajar, Philip Salvador, Felix Rocco Angel Aquino and Cherrie Gil.

And it was full house. Thank you for the love TIFF! The audience reaction was heartwarming. 🙏🏼 #DarkIsTheNightTIFF2017
