MANILA -- Teen star Kiray Celis, who is known for her comedic portrayals onscreen, will once again take on a dramatic role in an upcoming episode of "Maalaala Mo Kaya."

The 18-year-old actress will topbill the September 14 episode of the long-running drama anthology, this time as the talented Brenda, whose short stature becomes a source of insecurity.

Bullied as a child for her height, Brenda starts to question her self-worth when she hit her teens, which becomes a hindrance to finding love and happiness.

Celis' starring role in "Maalaala Mo Kaya" continues the top-rating series' unique offerings of comedians doing drama, with the likes of Ai Ai delas Alas, Pokwang, Eugene Domingo and Vhong Navarro having topbilled previous episodes.

Joining Celis in the September 14 episode are Arjo Atayde, Tetchie Agbayani, Ronnie Lazaro, Aaliyah Belmoro, Gilleth Sandico, Marnie Lapuz, Raquel Villavicencio, Young JV, Bianca Casado, EJ Jallorina, Marie Joy Dalo and Alec Dungo.

Directed by Garry Fernando, the episode was researched and written by Akeem del Rosario and Mary Colindres, respectively.
