MANILA - You can call her simply by her first name.
Marion, the daughter of 70s singer Maribel "Lala" Aunor and niece of superstar Nora Aunor, revealed that she has decided to drop her surname.
In an interview on "Aquino & Abunda Tonight," the 23-year-old singer said: "A lot of people have been giving me that advice. ... I guess in a way I want to create my own identity. I want to create my own niche."
Marion, who recorded the official theme song for the latest Star Cinema offering "Ex with Benefits," added that making this move has allowed her to pursue an "edgier" image.
"I think this might be the right move for me," she said. "I've always been drawn to edgy stuff before but my music --it was kind of me playing safe with my first album."
"This time around, my music is a lot of sexier, mature so I felt like I could bring out myself more," she added.
Marion, however, stressed that she is proud of her family.
"M," Marion's second album under Star Music, is available for streaming on Spotify.
