MANILA — The ABS-CBN gothic drama “The Killer Bride” is on a winning streak as it soared to its highest television ratings on consecutive days in the last week of August, widening its lead over its rival program.
The RCD Narratives production’s nationwide viewership on August 29 — at 24.6% against “The Better Woman’s” 12.1% — was its biggest since its August 12 debut on primetime.
But “The Killer Bride’s” national TV rating the following night, August 30, broke that record, with a new all-time high of 25.6%. That’s more than double the audience of its competing show, which only got 12.3%.
The latest numbers were announced by RCD Narratives on Monday, citing data from Kantar Media.
The ratings performance of “The Killer Bride” is notable, given its 9:15 p.m. schedule, which traditionally sees a steep decline of television viewers from the preceding time slots.
The primetime thriller’s ratings stride coincides with the unraveling of a twist involving the characters of Camila and Emma, portrayed respectively by real-life relatives Maja Salvador and Janella Salvador.
After deceiving the superstitious Las Espadas (and apparently, the show’s viewers, going by shocked reactions on social media), the “possessed” Emma is revealed to have been conniving all along with Camila to hatch her plans of revenge.
