MANILA, Philippines - It’s for real. Superstar Nora Aunor has undergone vocal cord surgery.
This was relayed to us Monday afternoon by actor Juan Rodrigo, a long-time buddy and one time boyfriend of Aunor and fellow performer of the actress in their recent Australian concert tour.
“Yes, totoong binutas ang lalamunan ni Guy. ‘Yong vocal cord niya, inoperahan,” informed Rodrigo in a long distance call to Sydney, Australia where the actor is currently staying after a series of shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney.
Rodrigo said the operation took place in March.
“Okay naman siya. Nagpapagaling.
Aunor lost her "golden voice" after an alleged botched cosmetic procedures in Japan. She is reportedly planning to file a lawsuit against the cosmetic surgeon.
Despite the setback, Rodrigo said Filipinos in Australia were still very supportive of Aunor. Punum-puno ‘yong mga venues namin,” he recounted.
Even if La Aunor didn’t sing in her shows booked as early as last year, Rodrigo said the audiences were very understanding of the predicament of the actress.
They were scheduled to do a duet, according to him, but had to be cancelled because of Aunor’s vocal condition.
German Moreno and his nephew, John Nite, were also involved in the show.
After the shows, Aunor went back to the US while Rodrigo paid his relatives in Australia a visit.
“Sana, dumaan muna si Guy sa Pilipinas, tutal, malapit lang naman ang Australia rito,” wished Lito Sibonga, one of the most active and ever loyal Noranians in the Philippines.
Meanwhile, Moreno and Rodrigo are scheduled to be back on Tuesday, according to Sibonga.
In the course of the recent criticisms hurled against Aunor, Sibonga defended her against people, including entertainment writers, who forgot to include her on the list of modern day heroes.
-Report by Boy Villasanta, abs-cbnNEWS.com
