MANILA, Philippines – Actress Bea Alonzo admitted she initially had doubts if she could deliver her daring scenes with veteran actor Ronaldo Valdez in her latest movie “The Mistress.”

In the Star Cinema film, Alonzo plays Sari, the mistress of Rico, played by Valdez.

Speaking to “The Buzz” on Sunday, Alonzo said she really got excited when she learned about the movie’s story. But she did not expect that her daring scenes with Valdez would prove to be a great challenge for her.

“Sabi ko natatakot ako pero sabi ko gusto ko at tingin ko ready na ako. Sa sobrang excitement ko, story pa lang kinukwento ko na sa nanay ko, sa mga kaibigan ko. Tapos nung look test, doon lang nag-sink in sa akin na, 'Oh my gosh ang laki pala ng hinihingi ng character.' Kapag nandun ka na sa eksena ang hirap pala niya,” she said.

The actress said it was director Olivia Lamasan who guided her in pulling off the scenes.

Alonzo added Valdez was also very helpful since he is a "professional actor."

“Yung kissing scene, talagang hindi ako mapakali before that until nilapitan ako ni Tito Ronaldo. Sabi niya ‘Magiging komportable ako sayo ah. Please be comfortable with me.’ Sana raw hindi ako ma-offend. Naisip ko parang ang kapal naman ng mukha ko to feel this way, na kabahan. Si Tito Ronaldo yun, he’s such a professional actor. He’s a great actor,” she said.

Alonzo said she is now at a point in her career where she is ready to explore more matured roles.

“Siguro tama ang sinasabi nila Inang (Lamasan) na at some point, every actress would feel na mayroon na silang hunger or thirst for a more challenging role. Para sa akin, ito ang perfect venue para ma-explore ko ang next level ng career ko,” she said.

Valdez earlier told ABS-CBN News that it was a big challenge to do "The Mistress" with Alonzo.

Valdez, who worked with Alonzo on ABS-CBN's "I Love Betty La Fea," said it wasn't easy to do intimate scenes with the young actress.

"Sa 'Betty La Fea,' anak ko si Bea dun. Dito, karelasyon ko siya... Dahil baka mailang siya I tried my best to be ease with her. Ayokong isipin niya na nagte-take advantage ako. Well it's work, but then again syempre kailangan ng preparations lalo na at may love scenes," the veteran actor said.
