Aiza Seguerra tops the Singapore jazz chart

Singer-composer Aiza Seguerra said that she just signed a contract with ABS-CBN's music outfit Star Records for another fruitful and fun year. Seguerra is a contract artist of Star Records but on a per album basis only.

"Ang pinirmahan ko ngayon ay iyong renewal ng contract ko with Star Records for another year of fun," Seguerra told in an interview.

The former child star said that she's really happy working with Star Records since she's free to do the style she prefers to do in recording an album.

"Masaya kasi hinahayaan nila ako, kumbaga kung ano yung gusto ko. I think I work best kapag hinahayaan ako at pinagkakatiwalaan ako na hayaan. Ayaw ko kasing masyadong sinasakal.

"So 'yun ang gusto ko with them kumbaga hindi nila ako pinipilit na gawin yung mga bagay na hindi ko kaya at hindi ko gustong gawin so malaking bagay para sa akin yon," explains Seguerra.

Fresh from being the successful winner of ABS-CBN's game show "The Singing Bee," Seguerra is now busy promoting her international debut album titled "Open Arms."

"Open Arms" is the follow-up to Seguerra's previous album, "Para Lang Sa 'Yo".

Seguerra said her "Open Arms" album was produced by an international music firm S2S from Singapore and was first released there.

The album is now available in PanAsia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Hong Kong and Japan. The album is also now out in the Philippines through Star Records.

"Open Arms" is now number one in Singapore's  jazz charts.

"Totoo po 'yon hindi nga ako makapaniwala na nag-number one na po siya sa Singapore at hopefully dito din sa Pilipinas, so sana ma-enjoy niyo ang 'Open Arms... it's a very beautiful album dahil sobrang pinaghirapan namin ito,'  she said.

She said that aside from feeling weird she's really happy now that she's being recognized as an international jazz artist.

"Nakakatuwa ‘yon kahit weird, jazz eh," she said.

Seguerra recalled that  in Singapore, she only had 17 days to record the 10-track album, which features revivals of old hits such as "Open Arms," "Time After Time," "Somewhere Over The Rainbow," "At last," "Vincent," "Smooth Operator," "Home," "Journey," and "Longer."
Seguerra said that "Home" is the carrier single of her album here in the country but she really likes the songs "Vincent," "Open Arms" and "Journey."

Seguerra then asked the public's support to buy her album "Open Arms" and to say no to pirated CDs.

Seguerra made one of the most notable comebacks in Philippine showbiz when, after her acting career nosedived as she entered adulthood, she made a name in music industry with her monster hit song "Pagdating ng Panahon."

Just recently, Seguerra’s “Sa’yo Lamang” was used as the theme song of Kapamilya's hit Koreanovela "Romantic Princess."
